Guest Artist Alla Prima Portraits Workshop |
| James Vogel will be joining us in a special workshop to teach portrait painting in the Alla Prima style. A live model (clothed) will be present for this event. |
About James |
James graduated from the Columbus College of Art and Design with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. He has taken on a wide array of esteemed projects as a Fine Artist and Designer. His work as Art Director for the film Revolver has won him and his team a Golden Globe award. James is an active fine arts painter and sculptor, and in the thirteen years that he has resided in NYC, has worked on many Broadway shows and several independent films. His foray into motion pictures includes production design, costuming, prop and set design and fabrication.
James has worked with many celebrity musicians' stage and video productions from divas such as Bette Midler and Madonna to punk rockers Lou Reed, Iggy Pop, and Bono. His sculptures have been published in Vogue Magazine while working with photographer Irving Penn. James has fabricated puppets and costumes for the Macy's Parade for the past ten years, and has displayed his work in Sax Fifth Avenue's, Macy's, and Bloomingdales' window displays. His fabrications currently appear in many Broadway shows such as Avenue Q, Lion King, Little Shop of Horrors, and Spiderman. With the Jim Henson Company, James built a Big Bird costume for Sesame Street, and has made masks and costumes for dance companies such as Michael Mao, Baryshnikov, the Boston Ballet, and the New York City Opera. He has exhibited his fine art paintings at the Gilles Larrain Gallery in Soho for the last three years. |
